4 Steps to Better Skin w/o Spending a Dime

One of the biggest reasons people don’t adopt a skin care regimen is because they don’t know where to start. Here are 4 easy steps you can take before you purchase one skin care product.

  1. Drink water regularly. When you don’t drink enough water, your skin appears duller, and wrinkles and pores become more prominent. Proper hydration helps the appearance and elasticity of your skin meaning you’re less likely to have cracks, irritations or blemishes.

  2. Wear sunscreen regularly. Everyone loves being outside in the sun but it’s important to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. Sunscreen blocks these rays, greatly reducing the likelihood of sunburn and damaged skin. Make sure your sunscreen has a sun protection factor (SPF) 30 or higher, this also reduces your risk of contracting skin cancer. Apply sunscreen indoors or in the shade if you can so that you don’t rinse or sweat it off before sun exposure and don’t forget to re-apply every couple of hours.

  3. Get some rest. Just like every other part of your body, our skin gets a chance to rest when you sleep. If you don't get enough rest, your skin can't properly repair itself from damage and inflammation.This could interfere with wound healing, cause inflammation and even lead to acne breakouts.

  4. Get to know your skin. We’re all busy but taking the time to pay attention to small things like if your skin is oily when you wake up or dry before you go to sleep can help inform how to use a regimen when you’re ready to take the first step.
